The reading states that zebra mussel has been spreading out and it is not possible that this invasion can be stopped and it poses a serious threat to fresh water and provides three reasons of support. The professor, however, refutes this point by saying that there are some ways to control spreading of zebra mussel.
First, the reading claims that the history of the zebra mussl's spread shows that the invasion might be unstoppable. The professor, expalins that although it is true that it was not stoppable in the past, it is possible now. As an example, he mensions that the spreading of zebras mussle by ship can be prevented by empetying the ships and refilling them in ocean water in Europe.
Furthormore, the article states that when the zebra mussls carry to new habitat, they dominate that area. The lecturer, on the other hand, refutes this point by stating that there are some other food resources that they can eat.
Finally, the reading states that zebra mussels are to cause a decline in the overall fish population in habitats where they become dominant. Again, the professor refutes this point by saying that it is true that zebra mussels result in declining fish population in the area where they dominated but they result in increasing on other kind of fish in othere areas.
