TPO-28 - Integrated Writing Task Robert E. Peary was a well-known adventurer and arctic explorer who in 1909 set out to reach the North Pole. When he returned from the expedition, he claimed to have reached the pole on April 7, 1909. This report made him

The article states that Robert E.peary had reached to the North Pole on april, 7, 1909 and provides three reasons of support. However, the professor explains that there are no solid evidences that Peary did so and she refutes each of the author’s reasons.

First, the reading avers that the investigation results that done by National geographic Society supports the claim of Robert Peary reached the North Pole. The professor opposes this point by saying that this investigation is completely objectives. Because the committee members were, in fact, Pole’s friends, and also they helped me financially  for his trip. FInally,  she mentions that this investigation only took 2 days and not examined evidences fully, so this was biased and not trustworthy.

Second , the article posits that recent expedition support peary’s claim that he reached the Pole during 37 days only. A british explorer named Tom Avery had done this expedition. The professor, on the other hand, explains that there are two difference between Peay and Avery trips. For example, the slides that used in Avery trip were less weight because his food was transported on the plane. Moreover, the weather conditions was so favorable compared to the conditions during Peary’s trip. So, this speedy issue did not proof that Peary  reached The North Pole.

Third, the reading claims that there are photographs taken By Robert E. Peary clearly support his claim. This was done by measuring the surf’s position. The professor refutes this point by explaining these images do not proof this claim. She emphasizes that these photos was taken by old, primitive camera, which produce unfocused pictures. And, consequently, we cannot make any precise calculations. Another thing, these photographs are faded over time and became so unclear. She concludes this photographs are not so great evidence to consider Peary’s claim that he reached The North Pole.
