The lecture and the reading passage discuss a burning mirror as a defines mechanism that the Roman navy used to attacked the Greek port city. On the one hand the reading clearly stat that using the burning mirror use unreal or myth. On the other hand the lecture refutes this, by saying that using it was practical.
First of all, the reading state that the ancient Greeks were not develop enough to use like these mirrors, and need skillful criteria. However, the lecture argues that the ancient Greeks used a lot of pieces to form huge mirror.
In addition, the article makes arguments is that the burning mirror took long time to set the ships on fire. The lecture counter this point by saying that to set a fire it need just 10 minutes, and their ships consist of different materials for example there is a sticky pitch burn with few second that will lead to burn the wood very fast within 10 minutes.
Lastly, the reading argues that the common way of setting the ships was shooting on it. the lecture refutes this claims by pointing that unobserved the mirror and it is more effective than the flaming mirrors.
