TPO 30 - Integrated Writing Task

In this set materials, the reading passage state that the ancient Greeks people could not use a special weapon called a burning mirror; also, it brings tree reasons for this claim. On the other hand, the listening section brings into question the reading by providing different reasons (and examples).

First of all, the reading passage argues that the ancient Greeks did not have enough technology for making a big mirror for using as a weapon. In contrast, the lecture opposes this view by mentioning that the Greeks people did not use only a large mirror, but they used several small pieces of flat copper as the mirror.

Secondly, the reading passage indicates that the Greek army needed at least 10 minutes for burning Roman's ships; furthermore, Roman's ships must unmoved until they burned. Conversely, what the lecturer state is different. She points that Roman's ships not made just a wood, they made with another material such as waterproof. The between waterproof and wood, the ships had a piece which called pitch. The pitch burned quickly (in a second). After burning the bitch, all the wood was burned immediately.

Finally, according to the reading, the Greek army had another weapon that used better and easier than the mirror. However, the lecturer believes that the Roman army had information about Flaming arrows; therefore, they could save each other from this weapon. Conversely, the Roman army did not have information about a mirror, and they sow the only mirror, but suddenly their ships were buried. Hence, the weapon mirror is more useful than flaming
