The reading passage and the lecture are both about TED method which is a escapping path for turtle. While the reading passage states that there are several reasons that show this strategy are not work the lecture contradicts these claims and provide evidence to the contrary.
First, the reading passage argues that turtle rarly cath by the nets and by using the TED method, many shrimps escap through the turtle path and it is not economical solution. Conversely, the professor brings up the idea that the turtle's population are small in number and if 1000 boat in USA accidentaly cauth the 1000 turtl in every year it become a big problem.
Second, the author holds the view that there are several strategy that can be used instead TED. For example, establish controling rules to limit the time that shrimp boat keep their net underwater. In contrast, the professor makes it clear that it is a good method in theory and it is not easy to monitoring the time limitation.
Furthermore, according to the passage the TED is not effective for big species and they cannot pass through the TED path. However, the professor underlines the fact that by modifying the TED, it can easily become useful for large one.
