In the reading section, the writer contends that it would be impossible to maintain a permanent human presence on Venus; however, in the lecture, the professor completely refutes all the reading points by stating that by establishing a permanent station in Venus' atmosphere rather than on Venus' surface all the problems will be solved and a permanent human presence would be possible.
First, the writer claims that atmospheric pressure at Venus' surface crush all spacecraft that land on Venus; on the other hand, the professor has another point of view and explains that high upon the atmosphere, the pressure is low, so the spacecraft would not be crushed by the pressure if it would be located above the Venus' surface.
Second, the writer also maintains that water has to be supplied to Venus from Earth which is impractical; in contrast, the lecture again takes issue with this statement and states that there are chemical composition in the Venus' atmosphere which can be used for producing water; therefore, there is no need to supply water from Earth.
Third, the writer also asserts that very little sunlight reaches the planet's surface which prevent producing electricity to power humans' machines and equipment; in contrast, the professor again is against this opinion and states that a station above the surface would enjoy the sunlight not only which reaches it from the above, but also which would be reflected from below clouds; hence, humans would get enough electricity.
