TPO 44 - Integrated Writing Task
Actually, both the passage and the lecturer comment about the silvers coins which have been found in North America. Although the passage brings three Hypothesizes for proving the thought that the coins are fake and they are not a genuine piece of historical evidence which is taken, the lecturer puts those theories under question. According to the lecture, none of the proofs are convincing.
First, as illustrated by the passage, Norse traveled in another part od continent where is far from where the silver coins have been discovered; therefore, they aren't the original European coins. The passage; however, refutes the idea by emphasizing the fact that the explorers were used to traveling; hence, it is logical that they might be travel to North America as well, although it located far from the center of the area where they settled.
Next, as declared in the article, considering the fact that the mentioned coins haven't been explored in Eastern Canada where was the hub of the Norse's dwelling the found coins is different; nonetheless, the professor dismisses the claim by indicating the statement that people presumably took the coins as well as other valuable things back to Europe.
Finally, the passage expresses that albeit the coins were worthwhile for the European, the North American people weren't aware of the value of them; thus, there aren't any rational reasons to support the fact that they aren't fake; never the less, the speaker doesn't reinforce the idea by adding the fact that the coins ware attractive enough that encouraged people to use them as a jewelry or for constructing neckless
