In the reading, the author provides three reasons of support fo the claim that the fossil structures which were discovered in the Arizona, United State about 200 million years ago were not made by bees. However, finding all the ideas questionable and implausible, the lecturer repudiates all the reasons and present some evidence to the contrary.
first, the passage of the reading asserts that in 200 million years ago, there were no residual fossils of real bees. Conversely, the speaker rebuts this reason by explaining that this might be true because fossils did not preserve. At the present time, There are some trees which secrete sticky substances , Resin, which is responsible for preserving the fossils of the bee nest. These kind of trees were rare at 200 million years ago..Therefore, bees existed but no trees released resin for nests preservation.
Furthermore, the author holds the view that at the time that fossils structures were found no flowering plant existed which bees feed on. On the other hand, the lecturer asserts that early bees did not feed on flowering plants. They relied on nonflowering plants like Forn. Besides this, during their evolution, they obtain their foods from flowering plants.
Finally, the passage declares that the real nests of bee have chambers which have caps but fossilized structures did not have caps. On the contrary, the teacher posits that actual bees use waterproof substances which protect their nests from the water. According to some experiments on these fossils, it is revealed that they have these kinds of waterproof materials too. As it turns out; these fossil structures were related to the actual bees.
