TPO-47 - Integrated Writing Task Pterosaurs were an ancient group of winged reptiles that lived alongside the dinosaurs. Many pterosaurs were very large, some as large as a giraffe and with a wingspan of over 12 meters. Paleontologists have long wondered

In this passage, the writer argues pterosaurs are not capable of powered fhight for three reasons, however the sperker thinks that all these reasons are ineffect.

To begin with, pterosaurs are unable to produce enough energy to fly due to their are probably cold-blooded according to the passgae. On the contrary, the speaker disagree with this idea for they are more likely warm-blooed because of the recent fossils which indicate they have dense, hair-like covering like fur. If this is true, they can have a lot of energy to spport flight.

Then, the speaker thinks that pterosaurs are too large and heavy to fly. But the speaker points out that pterosaurs have special features. Their bones are hollow so that the weight is low despite the large body. So even they are large, they may fly for their low weight.

Thirdly, according to the passage, pterosaurs cannot take off from the ground because their leg muscles are too small an weak. This is also opposed by the speaker. He then points out that pterosaurs are differnt from birds who just use legs. Instead, pterosaurs use all their four libs like bats. This ideal cannot approve the pterosaurs' discapability of flight.
