The text states that pterosaurs; which lived with dinosaurs was very enormous is size and weight. It argues that they were not capable of powered flight. Conversely, the professor believes that there are many pieces of evidence that say they could fly. She offers three counter-arguments to demonstrate weaknesses of each presumption provided by the text to negate the powered flight among petrosaurs.
The first paragraph asserts that same as modern reptiles, the pterosaurs should have been cold-blooded. hence they metabolism were too low to generate required energy. In contrast, the professor explains that recent discoveries delineated that the pterosaurs had a dense hairlike cover which resembles fur in current time warm-blooded animals. She adds that they needed to be warm, which means that they were warm-blooded. Consequently, they could afford the required energy for powered flight. This directly rejects the first assumption of the text.
In the next paragraph indicates that pterosaurs were extremely heavy and large in size. therefore they could not flap air. moreover, their wings were not fast enough, and their length hindered them from the flight. The professor contradicts this justification by suggesting that. we know from evidences that their whole weight were low in their size proportion. They adapted to have a hollow bone which made them lighter. This factor could assist them to stay flop in air.
The last paragraph proposes that, fossils evidences showed that pterosaurs’ muscles were not strong enough to help them take off like modern birds. Once again the professor rejects this idea, despite of it that he accepts two legs are not appropriate for taking off. He emphasizes that birds have only two legs, while pterosaurs had 4 legs and it could make them able to take off easily. He continues that recent studies postulated that even largest pterosaurs had no problem for powered flight when they uses four legs.
