TPO-49 - Integrated Writing Task Like many creatures, humpback whales migrate long distances for feeding and mating purposes. How animals manage to migrate long distances is often puzzling. In the case of humpback whales, we may have found the answer: the

The reading passage and lecture both discuss about migration of humpback whales. The passage provides three supports to hold up the hypothesis of navigation by stars which humpback whales do it. In contrast, lecture states that the justifications of article are not convincing and demonstrates three counterarguments.
First, the reading section posits that humpback whales are intelligent enough to navigate by stars. Conversely, the speaker opposes this idea and explain that this evidence is not convincing. Besides, some kinds of birds such as ducks can navigate by stars but they are not intelligent. He thinks that these animals born with this ability and it is not related to their intelligence.

Furthermore, the author mentions that if these kind of whales orient by some external forces or objects they will migrate in straight lines. In fact they rely on stars on track as they migrate. On the other hand, the lecturer disagrees and points out that these whales migrate using earth magnetite field.

Finally, the text indicates that humpback whales have unusual behaviors. They float straight ahead a minute with heads out of the water looking upward. Consequently, they follow stars to help them to navigate and find their destination. The professor refutes this and provides some evidence to state that it is rare to happen. For instance sharks do it but they do not migrate at all. Generally, they do this activity when they want to hunt other marine animals.
