the reading and lecture both discuss the possible uses of the massive building that found in South America. While the reading provides three explanations of the uses of theses massive building, the professor refutes, saying none of these claims are convincing.
Firstly, the reading avers that these buildings used as a residential places. This is because they found famous apartment building similar to these buildings. On the other hand, the professor argues this notion by saying that these building were similar to native American building from outside, but these are different from inside. In fact, these building should be for hundreds of people to live together. So, they have to find many fire places for cooking. However, they found just few fire places. As a result, these massive building could support just ten families.
Secondly, the reading mentions that these building used as storage for food supply. This is because these building were large enough to support the mazie. However, the professor rejects this point by explaining that there was no evidence to support this idea. In the same time, if these buildings used for storage, they should found traces of mazie on the floor. In addition, they should spile some mazie on the ground. In fact, they could not find anything to support this idea. Moreover, they should find big containers.
Lastly, they might used these buildings as a ceremonial centers because they founds broken pots. Nevertheless, the professor contradicts this idea by pointing out that they found many other materials like building materials. For instance, they found stone, sand, and tool. Furthermore, these materials through away. So, these pots could be as a regular trash too.
