Whereas, the reading passage provides some solutions such as fences, hunting, and virus, that may help to stop the spreading of these animals to other locations of Australia, the listener doesn't agrees. He provides some counterclaims that cast doubt on the reading.
In the first place, the reading states that in order to ovoid the spreading of can toad, the government may use fences. But, the listener disagrees, and says that this idea won't work due to the fact that these animals live in rivers. So, fences won't stop them because they may be carried by water streams. Furthermore, little eggs may be transported to the other sides of the fence.
Second, the reading says that government may use citizens to hunt the cane toad, thus this practice may help reduce the population. Nevertheless, the speaker has a different opinion, he recognized the fact that citizens help may avoid the frog reproduction, but if this practice happen, also other animals will suffer. In other words, because citizens are not train to distinguish frog's species, then they may damage native frogs as well.
Finally, in the reading the author claims that a virus could be developed to destroy cane toad. Notwithstanding, the listener thinks that this is a bad idea due to the fact that viruses may cause a biological catastrophic. For instance, if a virus is produced cane toads located in South America (their native land), may also be affected.
