The reader claims three benefits of the Genetically modified trees and provides reasons for supporting. On the other hand, the professor counters these specific points and presents clues to call into the information in the passage and he refuses each of the author’s ideas. The author says the Genetically modified trees are more beneficial and productive, while the professor says although there is some benefit from the trees but more costly and severe problems.
First, the reader debates that these threes are more resistant to the environment than the natural trees. Conversely, the speaker explains that even though that the native trees may not survive in the harsh environments or when they exposed to the specific types of insects. But, one of these species can resist these conditions and keep the continuation of their generation. Also, he says when the Genetically modified tree's exposure to the same conditions all of them will die out and no guarantee for their surviving.
Second, the author discusses the Genetically modified trees are faster to grow, and also their products are more yield compared to the native one. The professor disputes that by telling that the seeds of these trees are expensive when we buy and there are hidden costs such as after planting we cannot easily re panting the seed, but under the law, we have to pay for each time replanting.
Third, the author says that we do not need to destroy a lot of trees to cover the needs of the wood for the human because the new trees are more yielding and faster. The professor casts doubt on this point by explaining that these trees are competing with the natural one for the resources such as the soil and water because the genetically modified trees are aggressive and can damage to the local trees. So the damage exceeds the benefit
