In this set of material, both of the reading and lecture discuss about a group marine animals that have gone extinct. This group is related with Agnostid fossils which have found in many areas. The reading provides three theories that how Agnostid lived or what they ate; however the professor finds all surmises the weakness. The information the professor provides contradicts the fact outlined in the reading passage.

First, the author of reading contends that Agnostids could swim very fast and also they were strong pardators which were feeding small organisms in the ancient ocean; however the professor refutes this suggestion. He believes that other types of arthropods (in fact Agnostid were a kind of primitive arthropods) had big eyes that this characteristic helped them to become a strong predators, but Agnostid fossils show that they lacked of big eyes, even they more seems that had been blind. Other organs that could have helped them in this way did not find.

Secondly, the reading claims that Agnostids lived in Seafloors, however the lecture rejects that these organisms were seafloor dwellers. Since the animals which live on seafloor move very slowly; hence they just find in small areas. Inasmuch Agnostid fossils have found many areas, this conclusion could be drawn that Agnostids were be able to move fast and enter to other geographic areas.

Third, the reading declares that Agnostids might have been parasites and they could have lived and fed on their host (maybe primitive fishes or other organisms); however the population of parasites has to be small, otherwise they can destroy the population of host; so the a great number of Agnostid fossils which have found in the world, ignores this idea.
