In the reading passage, the author lists out three solutions for the declining population of frogs. However, the speaker does not think these ideas can successfully work out since the following reasons she mentions.
To begin with, the author points out that the government should build laws to prohibit the farmers using harmful pesticides which can attack frog's nervous system and lead to severe breathing problems to them. Nevertheless, the speaker argues that the strict laws about the usage of pesticides would bring economically negative impacts on farmers. For example, it might become hard for farmers to compete in the markets since their production of crops will decrease.
Secondly, according the reading passage, the fungus which causes thickening of frog's skin would lead to the deadly effect on frogs. Therefore, the author raises that the treatments which can kill fungus with heat should be applied in a large scale. However, the speaker rebuts it by doubting the effectiveness of the treatment since the disease would occur independently on each frogs and can be passed from their offsprings. As a result, the speaker believes it is difficult and expensive to apply these treatments.
Lastly, even though the author indicated that the human activities strongly threaten the water habitats such as lakes and wetland, the speaker asserts that the main problem of the reduction of water habitats is global warming. Since the global temperatures gradually increased, wetlands and lakes became fewer and smaller. Therefore, the speaker does not agree that reducing the human activities in these habitats can prevent the declining of frog's population.
