Many museums charge for admission while others are free. Do the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages?
Some museums have started to impose the entry fees, that lead to some arguments about its benefits and drawbacks. It is said that charging people for entry fee to museums might brought more disadvantages than advantages. Nevertheless, I totally not agree with this opinion and I am going to describes both pros and cons of this statement by the following essay.
To begin with, museums are places which reserve historical sites, those antiques require protection and repair. Therefore, the money come from admission fees are spent on maintaining objects. In addition, the managers also need to pay salaries for staffs of museums, so requiring fees might help them in solving this problem. The second advantage is that the profit come from entry fee could contributed to national economy. To be specific, travellers who is foreign to a country would not hesitate to pay a minimal fee to explore the new culture. Tourism and taxes from museums brought several profits for national economy.
On the other hand, the primary drawbacks of entry charge requirement is that it might drop the number of visitors. For example, there are several information about historical sites on the Internet, so some person choose searching online instead of studying at a museum to safe time. Moreover, a museum represents national history and culture, it needed to be open for everybody to enrich their social knowledge. Because museums need expense for maintenance so they need to decide reasonable entry price for all group of people.
To conclude,a large average of money come from admission fees would be spent on maintaining objects in the museums. I claim that the benefits of entry charge requirement are more obvious than its drawbacks.
