A young male gunman killed 10 people Thursday at a community college in rural Oregon.
The gunman, in his 20s, opened fire in classrooms around midmorning, according to the New York Times and the social media site, Twitter. The shooting lasted about a minute, some reports said.
The local hospital treated as many as a dozen victims of gunshot wounds. Cory Grogan, of the Oregon Office of Emergency Management, said that at least 20 people had been wounded, the New York Times reported.
The gunman was said to be "neutralized," although it could not be confirmed if he was alive or dead.
The shooting occurred at the Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon. News reports said the gunman was online Wednesday evening, talking radically.
