Claim: Any piece of information referred to as a fact should be mistrusted, since it may well be proven false in the future.
Reason: Much of the information that people assume is factual actually turns out to be inaccurate.
The facts are the information which are proven to be true. What I feel is that one should not blindly trust the facts. There are many incidents in history where many proven facts were refuted and were proven wrong. But this does not mean that most of the factual information which is available could be mistrusted.
Historically, in the sixteenth cntury, all the religious clerics and the physiist considered the earth to be the center of the solar system. However, Copernicus vehemently opposed the notion and stated that the the Sun is at the center and all the planets including earth, revolve around sun. The theory was experimented and was proven correct. Thus, the fact was proven wrong and it was the one the greatest achievements in the field.
Also, there is might be a case that, the assumptions or the facts on which the facts were proven may be invalid. Lets say, in a business, there was a increase in the economic returns ofthe company. The company may had attributed and had documented this to the changes in policies of the company which is considered to be as a fact for next generations. However, the company might not have considered other factors like competion, increase in market etc. whicch might have resulted the increased returns. Thus, the next generation should blindly trust the fact and should have skeptical view before trusting any factual information.
As the reason stats that the most of the factual information alctually turns out be inaccurate. In my view, there not been many instances where facts have been proven wrong. Nobody could refute some facts like the independence day of the country, the dates of the civil wars, who discovered what etc. The reason shoukd have stated "some" instead of "most".
In the retrospect, I feel that one should not blind trust the facts. One should be skeptical of the facts based on assumtion and evidence. Once they themselves ae satisfied with reasoning, only they should they trust the facts.
