The reading passage explores the issue of frog extinctions, and several reasons are offered in support of this argument. However, the lecturer casts doubt on it and contradicts it for the following reasons.
First of all, even though the reading passage suggests that frogs are being harmed be pesticides, the lecturer argues that by restrict the pesticide use will cause the price of crops rise. This is because crops need pesticides to protect them from insects, which means use fewer pesticides will cause crops production. Obviously, the lecturer’s argument disproves its counterpart in the reading.
In the second place, the statement held by the writer claims that frog population decline is a fungus that has spread around the world. Nonetheless, it is argued in the listening that the treatments need to use by each frog and can not use by large scale. The lecturer gives the truth that even use the treatment on each frog, the treatment can not pass by their offsprings.
Last but not least, the lecturer acutely identifies the weakness in the reading passage that the major factor is not the human activites.
The lecturer convincingly points out that global warming is the major factor that causes frog population declined; moreover, in order to establish a solid and concrete statement, he offers the example that even stop human activities, the global warming still cause frogs in danger.
In conclusion, based on the evidence presented above, it can be clearly seen that the stances on both sides are paradoxical.
