TPO-19 - Integrated Writing Task Many consumers ignore commercial advertisements. In response, advertising companies have started using a new tactic, called “buzzing." The advertisers hire people, buzzers, who personally promote (buzz) products to people
The reading and the lecture are both about advertising agencies hiring buzzers to talk good about their product. The author of the reading believes that buzzers are not being truthful about the reviews of the products, and it creates controversy. However, the lecturer casts doubts about the claims made in the article and refutes all of the theories presented in the reading passage.
First of all, the author points out that consumers must be aware if the person praising a certain product is buzzing. The author mentions that buzzers are being paid to mislead or and give false information to products in order to sell it. The point is challenged by the lecturer. He says that buzzers actually telling the truth about the products they are endorsing. Furthermore, He argues that companies hire them for their honesty on the products, and they just don't tell that the products is good, rather, they believe that the ones they are endorsing is effective and good.
Secondly, the author contends that consumers are mislead that buzzers are just an ordinary individual. The article notes that consumers are being pushed to choose products based on what the buzzers are telling them. However, the lecturer rebuts this argument. He suggests that people are asking for their questions with regards to price, service, length they used the products. He elaborates on this by mentioning that if the consumers doesn't believe that the products is not worth buying for, they have their own decision whether to but the product or not.
Finally, the author states that buzzing has negative effect on social relationship. The article establishes that when people are aware that the person they have talk to are buzzers, they become less trustful to people. The lecturer, on the other hand, posits that buzzers only endorse products that are worth while to buy, which is durable, efficient, cost efficient. Moreover, He puts forth the idea that when consumers tried the buzzed products they are trustful and more open to people, due to, the products they bought are good products.
