In the lecture, the professor makes a series of points that could solve the problems presented in the passage about impossibility of living in venus. He states living in venus converse to the reading passage is certainly possible.
First of all, he points out increased atmospheric pressure of the venus which the passage says is 90 times greater than earth could be solved by making stations, floating in the venus atmosphere 50 kilometers away.In this distance the atmosphere pressure would be equal to earth and there would be no danger to the stations.
Also, the professor states eventhough there are not any water or oxygen in venus surface but there are lots of carbon dioxide and sulfuric acid in the atmosphere as the reading states. So by making chemical reactions in stations they can make water and oxygen out of this chemical reactions and use them.Therfore, there is no need to import water and oxygen to survive.
Lastly, the author claims little sunlight reaches the venus surface due to thick cloud . The speaker states it is true but by making stations 50 km above the surface the cloud above the stations would be less. Also station can use cloud reflection of sun to make energy and use them in their stations.
