The article states that it is unlikely American companies in the US adopt new, ecologicaly friendly practices in order to recieve ecocertification. To support, it provides own reasons. However, the lecture cast doubts on tthe point by explaining that the USA companies will find eventually good reasons to earn the certification.
First, the author believes that US consumers are exposed to so much advertising and they would not value or pay attention to the ecocertified wood products ads. However, the professor claims that American would not treat ads dame and they make difference for the ads of independent agency and the products would be very preferably for them and it will attract international trust.
Second, in the reading passage the aurthor demonstrates that American consumers will not buy the ecofriendly products because they will be much expensive than other ones. However, the lecturer challenges the idea by saying that of course Americans care about the price. Then he asks who does not care about the price? But he adds that if there is small difference, somthing about 5%, between the prices for ecocertified products and unfortified ones, American will buy the certified one. Because they value the environment and they certainly would buy the certified one.
Third, the author posits that the ecocertified wood products is not convincing for American companies. However the author asserts that it definitly is convincing for the companies. Not only because they can sell to the foreign companies but also for competition with them. If they do not enter the market, foreign companies will enter to the domestic market of USA and they will the ecocertified products to Americans.
