The author discusses that "let it burn" policy were criticized and should be replaced as Yellowstone fires caused much damage. However, the speaker displays a contradictory view that the fires make a creative and good fundamention for nature.
First, the passage says that the fires gave rise to tremendous damage to the park's trees and vegetation. But the lecture challenges this idea by providing the truth that new plants took over the open unshield space and some seeds germinated under high temperature.
Second, the writer indicates that wildlife was affected, and it is impossible for animals to return as the habitats were destructed, the food chains were disturbed. To render disproof, the lecturer reveals that the fires provided an ideal habitat for rabit and hare, which were thriving later, and therefore the food chain became strong. This further refutes the example in the reading.
Last, the passage says that the fires leaded to less tourists and made the local economy suffer. Whereas the lecture contends that the fires were the combinations of all factors, such as low rainful, winds. On the contrary, the tourists grew, and this overturns the writer’s concept.
