The author of the reading argues that the selling and buying of fossils like dinosaurs skeleton conveys negative effects. However, the lecturer casts doubt on this claim by describing the benefits of fossils commercial for both scientists and the general public.
Firstly, the reading notes that the fossils commercial excludes the public from viewing fossils' collections. By illustrating, it states that as many rich people purchase these fossils it hinders fossils' exposure to the public and the scientists, who do not have comparable money as them. However, the lecturer refutes this idea, describing how the purchase of fossils brings about a great fossils exposure to the public. He clarifies that as this trade takes place, low level institutions like schools or other people will be able to own these fossils on their campuses or in their homes.
In addition, on one hand the reading mentions that scientists lose access to the fossils, which are needed for vitial experiments and discoveries. Apart from that, it also shows that robs away some evidence which would be used to study the bioloy of some creatures. On the other hand, the lecturer rebuts this author's point of view. He explains that before the fossils are purchased, scientists are the ones who define their value through intensive experiments. This means that scientists are the first one to be exposed to the fossils through performing detailed dating. Therefore, scientists will never miss anything as long as they are exposed to the fossils beforehand.
