The pie charts illustrates changes in electricity production by source in New Zealand and Germany over three decades (1980-2010).
Overall, it is clearly seen number of producted energy in both countries more or less doubled. While in New Zealand the most energy units had been produced from Coal, Germans producted more or less the same number from atoms. Although, there is was no evidence of energy producted in nuclear plants in New Zealand.
Almost three quarters of all energy produced in New Zealand was from fossil fuels. The main source for energy production in 1980 as well as 2010 was Coal (56 units and 150 units). When number of units producted from water increased slightly, Petroleum and Natural Gas plummeted similarly to only 2 units from its beginning of 11 and 30 units respectively.
In terms of Germany, in 1980, there is visible a wider range of sources in energy production. Although, like New Zealand, in Germany, almost three quarters of energy came from fossil fuels. However, in 2010, this trend reversed, and nearly three quarters of all producted energy came from nuclear plants (155 units). Interestingly, water which represented almost one quarter (46 units) in New Zealand, producted only 2 units of energy in Germany.
