The bar chart shows the contribution of agriculture, manufacturing, and business and financial services to the UK economy between 1900 and 2000. The importance of three selected sectors totaly changed within 100 years.
At the begining of twentieh century was striking domination of agriculture (50%) and manufacturing (45%) but busines and financial rate was significanlty lower (5%). A similar pattern was repeated in 1950 but we can observe some alterations. For instance, agricultural rate slightly increased from 50% to 52%. Futhermore, business and financial service started rising to 10% and manufacturing dwindled to 47%. Another situation was in the second half of twentieth century. Agriculture sharply dropped to 10% and manufacturing to 35%. Business and financial service boomed and gained roughly 20%. At the end of 20th century the contribution of agriculture botomed out in 2% and manufacturing in 18%. Business and finance raeched a peak of nearly 40%.
The graph shows that business and financial service grew noticeably and become the most important area in the UK economy. I think that it is result of a few raesons. Firstly, we have free movment of capital because of peace in Europe. Secondly, the United Kingdom is very modern, prosperuos and well-developed country and a lot of international companies want to invest there.
