Vaccination for flu was tried on the women of a large town in the countryside in the month of June during the year 1996 on an experimental basis. Bar chart indicates deaths from flu of the natives from March to August. The pie chart illustrates the percentage of females who are at a maximum risk, out of those who were given vaccination. Lines on the third graph depict the number of death cases filed based on gender for a period of 11 months from February to December.
To begin with, the death of only one female from flu was reported before the experiment was conducted which rose to a maximum of four during two months after June. As compared to this, only two males died during this period from June to August as a result of this epidemic.
Secondly, the pie chart shows that the vaccine was given to only the females who were at a maximum risk from the disease, out of which 28% refrained from taking part in the trial. Out of the women who took part in the experiment, most were senior citizens aged 65 or more at 35%, followed by babies or young children at 24% and least being the hospitalized women at 24% of the total.
It can be observed from the line graph, that the number of female deaths increased to 1000 in March and reached its peak in June with as many as 3500 women dying from the disease. After that, the death rate decreased and levelled to 2500 for the rest of the year. The figures for males show a similar trend, but at a lower value than that of their female counterparts.
