Graphs of sources of world and local news in UK since 1987 until 1997
The graphs show results of survey about world news and local news in United Kingdom from 1987-1997. The survey took three different medias as sources of the news which were newspaper, television, and radio.
The first graph illustrates sources of world news in United Kingdom. During ten years of periode, television was the media used in majority to get information about world news. Television outranked newspaper and radio in huge differences. Clearly, in 1997, television used 67%, much more used than newspaper (20%) and radio, with only 9%.
The second graph illustrates sources of local news in United Kingdom from 1987 until 1997. Different from the first graph which revealed television as the leading media, in this graph, newspaper is the most used media. Based on the graph, we can see that United Kingdom’s inhabitants were prefer to gain information about local news from newspaper since 1987 until 1997. Newspaper was never be outranked both by television and radio during the time.
To sum up, there is no big change in both graphs except that television seems like to outnumber newspaper as a leading media to get local news in United Kingdom. The second graph shows the using of television is rising, while the using of newspaper is decreasing.
