The general welfare of a nation's people is a better indication of that nation's greatness than are the achievements of its rulers, artists, or scientists.Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disag

Any country can achieve the greatness but greatness is wide and generic term that consists many other parameters which are as important as the welfare. There are many countries in this world where people are receiving good social reforms and welfare but this doesn't mean that only a well dwelled and fed person is capable to make the country in which he is living great. Many scientific advancements also come from the underdeveloped or developing countries which are
meant for the welfare of people.

The claim put forward by the author which states that the welfare of a nation's people is a better indicator for its greatness is not substantial enough. Though welfare of people is necessary for any country to reach the height of greatness but there are many other factors that comes into the picture. Additionally there is no perfect measure find out how great a country is. Many factors work in this way to find how well a country is doing and some of them are: GDP, Per person capita, Population, Poverty line etc.

Another claim that was put forward without a solid foundation was that the achievements of rulers, scientists and artists are not better indicator. Though it is not possible to compare these indicators keeping in mind the objective of measuring greatness of a country, but the achievements of the rulers, artists and scientists in a country do indicate the quality of leadership, creativity and education the people of that country has respectively. And these parameters
also indicate how good education the people are getting that also consists the artistic and leadership aspects in the coursework.

To conclude, we can agree on the fact that the welfare of people is essential aspect for the country to be great but there are many other factors that are significantly important. So only one factor may not be necessarily enough to summarize the greatness of a nation. Science, art and leadership are as important for as the welfare because many scientific advancements are done with an objective of welfare of people. These areas indicate the education level of a nation and the ability of a it's people to grasp these areas accordingly.
