Some people think that a sense of competition in children should be encouraged. Others believe that children who are taught to co-operate rather than compete become more useful adults.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
In Indonesia, children have a formal school when they are 6 years old. It is important for children studying not only lesson at school, but also shaping good behaviour. In the way to build a good character, some people believe that children must encourage to brave having competition with the others while the other people believe that children must be teach to be social children who can co-operate with the other students. This essay will examine these aspects whether competitiveness or co-operating is better than children.
One of the problems when children are being new students is confidence. They have new environment which is different from the previous daily. They meet many new friends and they feel strange situation. Therefore, parents and teacher must encourage them to make a friend with the other students. It is really help them to ensure them that they are not lonely. As a result, children become confident when they are in school.
What is more, if children can co-operate with the other students, they can study together to solve their task or homework from their teacher. By doing this, they are not only easlily understand the lessons, but they also can finish the task faster.
On the other hand, children need to have a sense of competition in class. It is particularly important because they are encouraged to reach good rank in the class. They will study hard to reach it. They also will be more confident in class when they answer the question. It is totally different if children do not have awareness to compete with the other students.
To sum up, I believe children must be taught to be social people who can co-operate with the other. But, children also need to have sense of competition to encourage them to be the best in class. Both co-operating and competitiveness are important are important to build good character in future.
