whether or not Pterosaurs were able to fly
The lecture and the reading have contradictory opinions about whether or not Pterosaurs were able to fly. The author of the extract extremely asserts that they were not equipped with required features to fly and provides three reasons to strengthen this assertion. In contrast, the professor in the lecture casts doubt on the author of the article's view and denies each of the reasons given in the reading.
First and foremost, according to the reading, Pterosaurs were cold-blooded, so accordingly they had slow metabolism, and following that they could not to produce enough energy which is a demand for flying of animals. None the less, the professor in the lecture refutes this idea and says exactly something opposite to that. In fact, in her perspective, Pterosaurs were truly warm-blooded which have been proven by their fossils' records. They were covered by dense hair like fur which is a sign of warm-blooded animals. Warm-blooded animals keep their body in a high temperature with hair on their bodies. It is not to mention that by such a view, they had absolutely faster metabolism and were capable to supply the very energy.
The professor in the lecture further asserts that Pterosaurs were light which was not compatible with their large body frames. Their unusual low weight was the result of their hollow bones instead of solid ones. This claim rejects the writer's implication that Pterosaurs were as heavy that it was not possible to them to stay aloft.
The text lasting insists that they didn't have large, powerful back legs which are essential for such a huge animal in order to launch themselves. Nevertheless, the professor in the lecture counters this by explaining that Pterosaurs were not like birds that just use back legs to walk, in contrast they utilized their four limps. By keeping this in mind, they were not at all in demand of such a back legs, mentioned in the reading, to prepare themselves to fly.
