The table below shows the figures for imprisonment in several countries over five decades from 1930 to 1980.
Great Britain had the same position at thirty thousand from 1930 to 1940. Australia and New Zealand dropped to 50,000 and 55,000 in 1940. In contrast the number of imprisonment in United State went up to 130,000 in 1940.
Between 1950 and 1960, Great Britain increased over 10,000 from 50,000 to 60,000. Also Australia, New Zealand and United State were increased dramatically. However, during the same period only Canada decreased from 110,000 to 90,000.
In contrast in 1970 Great Britain, Australia and New Zealand had the similar position for imprisonment at seventy-five thousand. United States was the highest for imprisonment about 90,000 in 1970. On the other hand, Australia decreased dramatically from 75,000 to 45,000. Also United States went up to 130,000.
In general, United State is the highest for imprisonment than the other countries during five decade and Great Britain increased slightly from 1930 to 1980.
