The tables illustrate the sales revenue of the Fairtrade-labelled coffee and bananas in five European nations, in 1999 and 2004.
Look more closely at the first table, the sales of fairtrade coffees for all countries were increased in various degree between 1999 and 2004. There was a considerable increase in UK, from 1.5-20 million euros. By contrast, the sales in Denmark and Sweden only increased by 0.2 million euros, and the growth was slightly larger in Belgium, from 1-1.17 million euros. Finally, the revenue of Switzerland doubled from 3-6 million euros.
For the second table, Switzerland had the greatest sales of fairtrade bananas among the European countries, with the dramatic increment between two years, from 15-47 million euros. Meanwhile, the sales in UK and Belgium grew slightly from 1-5.5 million euros and from 0.6-4 million euros respectively. Sweden and Denmark, however, showed a different trend, the sales fell from 1.8-1 million euros and 2-0.9 million euros.
Overall, it is apparent that sales of fairteade coffee rose in all five countries from 1999 to 2004, but the sales of fairtrade bananas only increased in three out of five countries.
