The graphs given illustrate the percentages of married and divorced people in the USA from 1970 to 2000 and the marital status of Americans for 1970 and 2000.
The first chart is consisted of two axes, the vertical one showing the millions and the horizontal one the
four decades of marriages and divorces. As it can be illustrated in all decades the marriages are undoubtedly increased than divorces. More specifically, in 1970 and 2000 divorces reached 1 million. At the same time in 1990 this number changed slightly upwards. On the other hand, marriages hold the first place reaching the number of 2.5 million for the decades 1970 and the next one. As the years pass by, it is evident that married people become less, however not noticeably. The least number of married couples occured in 2000 which were reduced to 3 million couples. The most worth mentioning change concerns the divorces, which in 1980 were risen, touching almost 1.5 million couples.
The graph of marital status delineates the percentage of adults and their marital status. According to the chart, married people hold the highest percentage for both years with a slight increase in 1970. it is worth mentioning that in 1970 people were not acquainted with divorces, whereas this state of mind altered in 2000 by being almost 3 times higher. people who never got married were approximately the same for both years. Nevertheless, widowed adults are below 10 percent in both of the years.
