Overall, it can be seen that agricultural activities consumed the most significant amount of water.
In detail, more than 70% amount of water spent on agricultural purpose in developing regions, which include South America (71%), Africa (84%), Central Asia (88%) and South East Asia (81%). However, water usage of industrial processes is always less than 15%, which the least percentage is 5% (Central Asia). Besides, the figure of domestic water in these regions is similar to the industrial figures, except South America (19%).
In the other hand, developed countries located in North America and Europe distribute the majority of water consumption to industries, about 48% and 53% respectively. In addition, a significantly water consumption used for agriculture, nearly 35%. Similar to the developing regions, the domestic amount of water usage hold the least figure. The ratio of agriculture and household is 3:1 for North America and slightly higher than 2:1 for Europe.
To sum up, there is a huge difference between agricultural percentage and the rest in the developing regions. In contrast, Europe and North America distribute the well balanced amount of water to different purpose.
