In 2000, the sales of CDs were much higher than those of the other two products, they totaled 35 billion dollars, compared to 18 billion and over 10 billion for DVD/video and games software respectively. However, people spent more money on games software and DVD/video throughout the remainder of the period.
By contrast, the global sales of CDs witnessed a gradual decrease to 33 billion in 2003. This number was still slightly higher than sales of DVD/video, which reached a peak of over 30 billion in 2003. In that year, the sales of games software kept rising, then finally reached its highest point at 19 billion dollars.
