Rembrandt's painting
The article states that the famous painting 'Portrait of an elderly woman' is not the painting of Rembrandt and provides three reasons of support. However, the lecturer believes that the painting is actually drew by Rembrandt and refutes each of the author's reasons.
First, the reading states that there is inconsistent how the woman is dressed in the portrait. However, the lecturer refutes this point. The professor explains that for color in the picture has been added later in order to increase the value of the picture. He also claims that because of addition of for color the dress of the woman in the portrait looks inconsistent, which is actually not attribute of the works of Rembrandt.
Second, the article claims that Rembrandt is master of light and shadow, which is absent in this painting. The lecturer refutes this point by stating that the color of the woman in the original painting was light color, which was a masterpiece of combination of light and shadow. But due to addition of addition of for color, the body color of the picture became vibrant and as a result the combination of light and shadow completely vanished.
Third, the article states that the painting was made on a panel, which made of several pieces of wood added together. However, the lecturer also contends this point. The lecturer explains that the original panel of the painting was made in a single panel. But because of addition of several parts, extra pieces of wood were added with the original panel.
