If we look at the north of the town, the coastal town has allocated a large area for industrial purpose on the left hand of the main road in 1950. However, in the next 57 year, all of these buildings has been replaced by a multi-storey car park connected with a swimming pool and an adjacent park. On the other hand of the main street, a new residential area has replaced the old car park in 1950. The main entrance of Portland was also be lengthened, embrace around the sea lying to the north. The sea itself was equipped with marina for Yacht in 2007.
