Both the reading and listening parts offer two opposite viewpoints about the possibility of Edmontosauru's migration. While the passage presents some arguments to verify this possibility, the lecturer, on the other hand, rejects all considered arguments; besides, presents some clues to call those arguments into the questions.
First of all, the text refers to the Edmontosauru's diet, which it was herbivore and the harsh condition at the winter did not provide the sufficient food sources; thus, it had to migrate the milder zone during the winter. On the contrary, the professor casts doubt on the accuracy of this assumption. As she explains, on that period, during the summer the North Slope was worm and got the sunlight for 24 hours; therefore, there was a favorable place for the growing plants and lots of herbs grew on that time, and their leftovers were adequate to support Edmontosaurus during the cold winters too. Thus, there was no lack of nutrition to oblige the Edmontosaurus to migrate.
Secondly, the passage considered the Edmontosaurus lived in the herb as the indicator of easily-organized migration. On the other hand, the instructor refutes the accuracy of this hypothesis too. As she discussed, the animals do not live in herb only for the migration, it also possesses other benefits such as the protection from the predator. For instance, a specific type of elks which are herbivore also live in herb without migrating to another location; since living in the herb gives the other advantageous. Therefore, the unearthed groups of skeletons do not approve they live in a herb to migrate.
Finally, meanwhile, the article highlights the physical ability of Edmontosaurus, which make them capable of migrating with the high speed and long duration, the lecturer gives more detailed information about this ability and makes this argument shaky too. As she posits, although the adult dinosaurs owned this ability and they could migrate that long-distance, the young dinosaurs did not have this capability. So, if the migrate in the group the youths could slow down the entire herb and do not allow them to make the considered distance. Also, since there was no feasibility of leaving the young Edmontosaurus behand, they did not migrate to the other zone.
