The lecture is about how the solutions made to solve the problem of declining frog populations are not practical.
First, reducing pesticides use by farmers is not fair or practical for the economy. Farmers rely on using pesticide to stay competitive or to decrease crop loss. If farmers follow strict regulations regarding the use of pesticides, they will suffer from severe disturbance compared to farmers in other areas. This, however, contradicts the information mentioned in the reading.
Second, applying the new treatment to overcome the fungus problem is very difficult and expensive as it must be applied individually. Applying it on a large scale of frog populations would be impossible due to the fact it would be hard to catch them. Moreover, this treatment won't prevent the passing of fungus to off spreading, so it would require applying to several generations in-order to be effective.
Third, excessive water use or the draining of wetlands is not the biggest problem that threatens frog populations. Global warming is a much bigger problem that threatening many other species not only frog. It contributed in the disappearance and extinction of many water and wetlands entire species. Thus, prevent humans’ activities is unlikely to decrease the threats facing frog populations.
