You recently received a letter from a friend asking for advice about whether to go to college or try to get a job. You think he/she should get a job.
Write a letter to this friend. In your letter
-say why he/she would not enjoy going to college
-explain why getting a job is a good idea for him/her
-suggest types of job that would be suitable for him/her
Dear Michael,
How are you doing? I’m writing to you to give you a piece of advice as you asked me whether to go to study further or go to work. If I were you, I would find a job straight away because nowadays experience is more appreciated than the qualification, don’t you think? Going to college means that you need to pay for that, study late at night and work during the day anyway. This would take double energy and I think it’s not worth it but this is just my opinion. Work would be a good start for your future career. More experience will increase your confidence and give you an opportunity to move on. I suggest starting working as hotel assistance and after a while to move on to a manager position. Anyway, let me know what you have decided and let’s keep in touch.
Best wishes,
Ricardo
