Given table describes about the changes happened to the forested lands in six continents over a period of 15 years. The measurements are given in millions of hectares.
Overall, it can be seen that the area of forested land declined dramatically in some continents but the others maintained their area while some others succeded in increasing their greeneries.
Firstly, the African forests were 749 million hectares at the beginning of the period which declined abruptly in the following periods to set as low as 691 million hectares at the end. South American forests also showed a similier trend, which was 946 million in 1990 dropped to 904 in 2000 and further reduced to 882 in 2005.
Secondly, Asia and Europe witnessed an increasing trend in forestation, which stood at 576 and 989 hectares respectively increased to 584 and 1001 hectares at the end of the period.
Finally, North America and Oceania preserved their forests with minimal decline. North American forests were 708 million hectares initially dropped to 705 million hectares in the next stage but maintained the same area at the end of the period. Oceania witnessed the least change to the forests which was 199 million hectares at the beginning reduced minimally to 197 at the end.
