Summarize the points made in the lecture you just heard, explaining how they oppose specific points made in the reading.
The lecture and the reading both are regarding the influence of the author and poet Gertrude Stein in the history. Whereas the author of the passage suggests that Stein's work was less influential in the history. The lecturer cast doubt on the main points made in the text by providing three reasons.
Firstly, according to the text, Stein's work was simply unclear because she tried to take many concepts from Cubism. She tried to apply these concepts to her writing which made it difficult to understand. The lecturer disputes this point. She explains, Stein had written a poetry in which sound of the word and visual pictures were important and it influenced the meaning of writing. lecturer thinks that Stein's work was massive literacy influence.
Furthermore, the reading states that Stein's work avoided punctuation. Not using punctuation in her writing made it difficult for the readers to decipher Stein's work.
Neverthless, lecturer refutes this argument. She argues some author thought punctuations are unnecessary and it weakens the sentence made by the author. Lecturer believes Stein's work to be unique in this way.
Finally, the reading claims that the fact Stein's regular visits by renowned artists at her home alone does not give her real historical significance. On the other hand, the lecturer believe Stein's work had influenced many artists in her contact and hence she has important siginificance in the history.
