The table shows forested land in millions of hectares in different parts of the world.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.
The chart presents the figures for forest distribution in various regions in the world in 1990, 2000 and 2005.
Overall, South America and Europe seemed to have the largest areas of forest land, and this pattern of almost all the regions appeared to only slightly fluctuate over time, except in Africa and South America.
In Asia, Europe, North America, and Oceania the total areas of forest tended to vary in small amplitudes, the numbers were 576, 998, 705 and 198 million ha respectively. By contrast, there was an opposite trend witnessed in the areas of two remaining regions, dropping from 749 in 1990 to 691 million ha after 15 years in Africa and from 946 to 882 million ha in 2000 in South America.
It appeared that the forest land across regions was to decline in the recorded periods, and the only exception is Europe where the total land had a positive increase in 2000, rising from 998 to 1001 million ha. North American forest land did not seem to increase but stayed unchanged in the same period.
