Integrated writing – TPO24
The lecturer believes that the memoir written by Chevalier is quite correct and takes an instance for its plausibility which is just opposite to the statement drawn from the passage.
Firstly, the lecturer says that the author was wealthy. The evidence for his wealthy needless to be judge by the fact of loan from the switch merchant. Due to the party in Venice, he had probably lost him all money; furthermore, the reason for more time to convert the property to the money, he may have borrowed money from the merchant.
Secondly, the reading states that it is faulty as they questioned on how he can remember all the quotes of the conversation he had with the writer. However, the speaker provides the evidence of his note-writing habit just after the conversation with the writer and its used during memoir to counter the point.
Lastly, contrary to the reading, the lecturer shows the reality of the incident of escape from the jail of Venice. The speaker question that if bribery was the reason for his escape other people in the jail also posses the high social status why did not they escape as well. Apart from that, the speaker asked if he had not broken the jail on his own as in his memoir why old document in the Venice says that they had repaired the ceiling just after his escape from the prison.
