In twenty years, there will be fewer cars in use that are today.
From the dawn of the human era, traveling and transportation was an important aspect of human civilization. With the development of technology we came from animal to carts to modern cars to fulfill our transportation requirements. Definitely our ancestors would never imagine to travel at speeds of today. In this era cars are the main method people use to travel. Many believe that with ever increasing population, number of car will also be increased. But my view is opposite and I will explain this under three reasons in following essay.
To begin with, in twenty years it can be expected to have more advanced and developed public transportation methods. Therefore people will use them for traveling. Moreover, current research interests among motor industry shows that they invest more money to find economical ways of public transportation. Governments also encourage citizens to use public transportation. For example, in my country Sri Lanka, government has doubled the number of trains within past ten years. This is mostly to reduce the high traffic congestion it the capital. This trend is not unique to Sri Lanka, governments around the world now promote public transportation. Therefore in future we will see reduction of privately own vehicles, especially cars.
Secondly, In future cars will be replaced by bicycles. This can expect as current environmental problems will force people to replace their cars from environment friendly vehicles. For instance, statistics shows that in countries like Norway, number of bicycle has increased significantly within past decade. In contrast number of cars shows some reduction. As they explains this is mostly due to awareness programs held by organizations. There is also another fact to replace cars by bicycles, that is cycling helps to make people healthier. Due to these multiple advantages in future we will see fewer cars and more bicycles.
Last but not least, with the development of technology, need for travel is reducing day by day. For example internet base platforms like Amazon allows you to order goods online and they use drones to deliver those items to your home. In future, there will be more advances in robotics and further reduces the need for travel. Moreover, in future, most of the jobs will able to do from home. Therefore there will be no need to buy a cars. Sometimes we will cars only from museums.
In conclusion, with the development of public transportation, rise of bicycle usage dues to awareness of environmental issues and health issues we will see reduction of car population. Furthermore, with the advancement of technology, there will be a reduction of need for travel, which will result in overall reduction in vehicles, especially private vehicles like cars.
