Overall, olive ridley turtles have the highest population among all whereas leatherback turtles have the lowest. green turtles and other species take the middle spots with a moderate population.
From 1980 to 1998, olive ridley turtles have increased from 100 to around 130. Then the line moves along in a more fluctuated manner and it stopped at about 125 in 2012. green turtles showed a slight increase during early years (1982). Afterwards, the number started decreasing in 1988. even though the numbers moved up and downs till 2000, it moved in a more stable manner and finally stopped at about 90 in 2012. The line representing other species shows a more consistent data indicating that the number never falls below 95.
However, even though there was an increase in leatherback turtles till 1987, the population significantly decreased in the following years. there was a year or two where it did show a slight increase. But ultimately, it continued dropping and moved to just above 50 in 2012.
