The chart given below shows the number of men and women in further education in Britain in three periods and whether they were studying full time or part-time.

The chart provides information on the total number of men and women pursuing their further education via a full-time or part-time basis, in Britain for the three-time periods: 1970/1971, 1980/81 and 1990/91.
Overall, in every period, part-time education was the most preferred option between both males and females for their higher education. Additionally, the demand for education increased by every period except men's part-time education which showed a fall over the periods.
In the period:1970/71, about 10 million men chose part-time module for their further studies whereas only 1.5 million men enrolled in full-time courses. But the men's preference for part-education in 1980/91; decreased by approximately 1.2 million, which then showed a jump to 9 million in the final period. The full-time education, whereas experienced a steady growth in its popularity, making 2.7 million men enrollments in 1990/91.
In comparison, almost 8 million women joined part-time studies which showed a slight rise to 8.5 million female enrollments in the second period followed by an approximate 30% growth to 11 million in 1990/91. The popularity of full-time education, whereas, skyrocketed from a mere half million by 400% to 2.5 million in the second period and finally settled down to 3 million in the last period.
