The bar graph compares how many research students who studied 5 different subjects in 2005.
Overall, there were more male research students than females in 2005. It is also noticeable that natural sciences were the most popular subject in both genders, while the least preferred subject for men was linguistic, women show little interest in mathematics.
Both genders comprised the same number in natural sciences at 200 each. The only subject where the figure for females exceeded that of males was linguistic, with around 10 females and roughly 80 males.
Among the four subjects where men outnumbered women, mathematics had the most significant difference at around 160. With regard to engineering and programming, both subjects had an equal number of male students at 150 as opposed to females at less than 100 each. A minimal difference of 25 between genders could be seen in psychology subject with 200 male students and 175 female learners.
